Classroom

Patterson maintains a 3.3 GPA in economics and is a three-year member of the Southeastern Conference academic honor roll.

Character

After turning down a chance to play professionally in order to finish his education, Patterson will captain the Tigers for the third straight year. As someone who was drafted out of high school but chose to attend Auburn instead, he has been one of the hardest working players in the program in recent memory. Even when he was not an everyday player, he could always be found around the field, working to improve his game while also setting a solid example for his teammates, both older and younger than him.

Community

Patterson has participated in several community-outreach projects, including visiting patients at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, participating in the Breast Cancer Awareness and Strike Out Cancer runs and four years of Christmas Caravan, for which he purchased and delivered toys to needy families for the holidays. He has also helped with a canned food drive for local families and served as an instructor at an Auburn little league camp.

Competition

As a junior, Patterson was a first-team All-SEC selection at designated hitter. He hit a career-best .315 and 33 RBI with 16 home runs, six doubles and two triples. His home run pace — one every 7.75 at-bats — was a school record.
