Kingsley Bryce

Classroom

Bryce maintains a 3.5 GPA and is working toward a degree in Psychology. He holds a Biology minor. His career ambition is to enter the field of medicine. In relation to that, Bryce has spent more than 35 hours shadowing physicians and surgeons at Children’s Medical Center in Texas and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis.

Bryce is a five-time honoree on the Atlantic 10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, which goes to student-athletes in the A-10 who complete a semester with a 3.5 GPA or higher. In addition, he has been a member of the Dean’s List at Saint Louis University. Following his sophomore season, he was voted the top male sophomore student-athlete by his peers in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at the end-of-the-year banquet.

Character

Bryce is a team captain and is looked to as a leader both on and off the field – not only among men’s soccer players but also across the entire department of athletics. He is the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a group made up of student-athletes that work with the department of athletics to ensure a positive experience for the more than 300 SLU student-athletes.

Within SAAC, Bryce has been involved in many leadership activities. He helped teach a class called U-101, a freshmen introductory course that featured 42 student-athletes. Additionally, Bryce was SLU’s representative in the Step-Up training program, where he taught students how to respond to sexual assault and alcohol abuse cases.

At the Billikens’ end-of-the-year banquet, Bryce earned the Mark Demling Award, an honor voted on by his teammates that goes to the individual who puts the team first and foremost and gives everything he has to the team.

Community

As President of SAAC, Bryce organizes a yearly community project with KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now), a national non-profit organization that provides one-on-one recreational opportunities for children with developmental and physical disabilities. Bryce works with the KEEN staff and organizes a day of activities on the SLU campus involving all SLU athletics programs.

Bryce, along with his men’s soccer team, is active with an organization called SPENSA, which stands for the Special Needs Soccer Association. Bryce and his teammates regularly volunteer on Saturday mornings during the season at a nearby soccer field playing soccer with children who have special needs.

As a MLK Scholar, Bryce participates in community service while at the same time raising awareness about social justice issues in the St. Louis community. Additionally, he is an African-American Male Scholar (AAMS), where he leads discussions involving cultural issues and current events within the male society. Bryce is also active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Competition

Bryce, a forward, helped the Billikens capture the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference tournament championship and the 2013 A-10 regular-season championship. The Billikens were the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Championship in 2012.

Bryce has 42 points (17G, 8A) entering his senior campaign. College Sports Madness tabbed him as a preseason All-Conference selection.

As a junior, Bryce was third on the team with 20 points (8G, 4A). His eight goals were second on the squad and tied for fourth in the A-10. Bryce scored a team-high four game-winners and named second-team All-Conference.

His sophomore year, Bryce led the Billikens to the A-10 Championship and was named Most Outstanding Player of the A-10 title match. For the year, he was tied for third on the team in scoring with 17 points (7G, 3A).

Bryce started every game his freshman season and scored five points (2G, 1A). He was named A-10 Rookie of the Week during the season.
