Classroom

Singler maintains a 2.98 GPA in visual arts. He has done several art projects while at Duke, including painting a mural in the team lounge and designing a logo for a T-shirt honoring Duke’s 17-0 home record in 2009-10.

Character

Singler is one of Duke’s team captains and a team leader this season.

Community

Four years ago Singler founded and has since hosted the annual Kyle Singler Southern Oregon Open in Medford. Proceeds from the basketball tournament benefit Kids Unlimited, which provides education, enrichment and sports programs to children of all backgrounds in southern Oregon. He also visits the Duke Children’s Hospital annually with the team and is active in Duke’s Read with the Blue Devils program.

Competition

Singler has a long list of honors. In 2009-10 he received the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award, was the ACC tournament MVP, first team All-ACC, fifth team All-America by Sporting News as well as NABC and USBWA All-District selection. He’s averaging 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds in 111 career games with 110 career starts and already ranks 18th at Duke with 1,767 career points, the third most by a player through his junior season. Singler’s one of eight Duke players to score 600 or more points in consecutive seasons. He ranks 18th in school history with 762 rebounds and is also 11th at Duke with 205 career made three-point field goals.
