Character

A kind, thoughtful young woman, Heyboer will deflect any attention or compliments she receives for awards and honors as an individual.  To Heyboer, her success comes as a result of the hard work of her teammates around her, and the praise she receives, to her, is a direct reflection of them.  She has been the best player on the MSU team all four of her seasons.  As a sophomore, she broke her leg and missed the final six games of the season, but still managed to finish as one of the team’s top scorers and earned All-America honors.

Community

Heyboer was given MSU’s Provost Award as a freshman, awarded to the male and female freshmen athletes with the best combination of academics and community outreach involvement. She has participated in the MSU Student-Athlete food drive (Fall 2010), Shoot for a Cure (raising money for the fight against children’s cancer), Teddy Bear Toss, Relay for Life, and the Spartan Golf Classic.

Competition

Heyboer will graduate in 2012 as perhaps the finest player in the history of the MSU women’s soccer program. The only three-time All-American among all seniors in Division I women’s soccer this season, she is also a three-time All-Big Ten Selection and member of the US U-23 WNT in the summer of 2011 which toured Sweden. Heyboer is tied for first in school record books in scoring (39).
