Lexi Sun

Communication Studies


Sun earned her bachelor’s degree in December of 2020. She carried a 3.51 GPA in communication studies.

A second-team Academic All-American in 2021, Sun is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She was also named a 2020 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and has been named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll the last six semesters.

She is using her fifth year of eligibility to pursue a master’s degree in advertising and public relations.

She has an infectious smile and a personality that captivates everyone she meets. People are drawn to her confidence and energy. Sun has exceptional communication skills and the presence and self-esteem to present information to her peers. She always makes time for others in the community and has embraced being a role model for girls across the state of Nebraska.”


Sun has volunteered with the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital and the Pershing Elementary for School is Cool Week, where she was a classroom speaker.

Along with her teammates, Sun has served meals at the Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach.

Additionally, she has attended the Husker Diversity and Inclusion Summit for the last three year.s


Sun, a two-time AVCA All-American, has excelled on the court.

She has also been named an All-Big Ten and AVCA All-North Region selection twice. Sun led the Huskers in kills per set during each of the last two seasons.

In Nebraska’s season opener, Sun surpassed 1,000 kills as a Husker. She became only the 23rd player in program history, and the ninth in the rally-scoring era, to reach that milestone.

Before transferring to Nebraska, Sun played one season at Texas. She was named a AVCA All-America honorable mention, AVCA All-Southwest Region, and All-Big 12 first team selection.
