May was named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic honorable mention team as a sophomore and has been named to the UCLA Athletic Director’s Honor Roll numerous quarters.
Character
May has been a team captain on the UCLA roster during this senior season.
Community
May has been a club coach and mentor since 2015, utilizing her knowledge to give back to her hometown in Dubuque, Iowa. She works with youth volleyball clubs and players while learning from experienced coaches.
She has volunteered with Athletes for Hope, an animal shelter. May helps clean cages, feeds, and comforts all types of animals.
May has also been a Bruin Pen Pal, writing letters back and forth to third graders to connect and be a friend to a youth.
Competition
May was named the 2019 Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year and has been an AVCA and VolleyballMag.com All-American as a sophomore and senior.
She has also been named AVCA All-Region twice and All-Pac-12 three times. May has led the Bruins in kills in each of the last two seasons and in aces each of the last three seasons.
In 2019, she was Top 10 nationally in kills and points per set. May was invited to train with the U.S. National Team in March 2020, but the tryout was canceled due to COVID.
