Last spring, May became just the sixth Bruin ever to be named an Academic All-American when she earned second team honors from CoSIDA. She was also named first team All-District and Pac-12 All-Academic for the second time.

May has also been named to the UCLA Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in multiple quarters.

Since 2015, May has been a club coach and mentor. She uses her knowledge to give back to her hometown of Dubuque, Iowa, by working with youth volleyball clubs and players, in addition to learning from experienced coaches.

May has also volunteered with the Athletes for Hope animal shelter, where she cleans cages, feeds, and comforts all types of animals.

Additionally, May has been a Bruin Pen Pal. She writes letters back and forth to third graders in an effort to connect and be a friend to the youth.

May is a three-time All-American, three-time All-Region, and four-time All-Pac-12 selection.

She has led the Bruins in kills in each of the last three seasons and aces during the last four. Following the Spring 2021 season, May was named an AVCA second team and Volleyball Magazine third team All-American. She was also named to the AVCA and Pac-12 first teams.

In 2019, May was named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Year. She ranked top-10 nationally in kills and points per set.

May was invited to train with the U.S. National Team in March of 2020, but her tryout was cancelled due to the pandemic.
