Classroom

Prior to transferring to Rutgers, Madison Pogarch collected Academic All-MAC honors in 2016 and 2017 while at Central Michigan. Pogarch carried her academic focus to Rutgers, as the public health major made the dean’s list her first semester “On the Banks” and boasted a 3.705 cumulative GPA.

Character

Pogarch was a pioneer for women in sports, becoming the first female place kicker for the Hartland High School football team, staying up to speed with the men’s conditioning and earning the group’s respect. She takes every challenge head-on and will do whatever it takes to achieve success. The Rutgers coaches were impressed with her knowledge and passion for the game of soccer, the contagious energy she exudes and her personality, as it is a great addition to the 2018 Scarlet Knights.

Community

Since arriving at RU, Pogarch has jumped right into the team’s community initiatives. The one that stood out to her the most was Special Friends Day, which is a day in which the team plays and interacts with children with special needs. While at CMU, Pogarch took part in Field Day, which held the same activities with special needs children.

An event that Pogarch is proud of is the CMU team’s Special Olympics clinic in 2016. She also used her Monday nights to coach 4- to 6-year-olds and to teach soccer to children with disabilities. The senior takes pride in spreading the love for soccer to younger generations.

Competition

Following the 2017 season at CMU, Pogarch collected first-team All-MAC accolades. The honor was preceded by second-team All-MAC recognition in 2016 and a MAC All-Freshmen selection in 2015. She started 52 of 58 games for the Chippewas, registering three goals and 10 assists.

This season, Pogarch immediately entered the starting lineup for RU and has become part of a backline that helped the Scarlet Knights start the season with three shutouts across five games to start 2018.
