Maia Cella

Classroom

Cella, a psychology and social welfare double major, carries a 3.96 GPA. In 2019, she was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America second team.

She has also earned UW Athletic Board Scholar twice, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar twice, and Academic All-Big Ten three times.

Character

Cella was previously a wide midfielder substitute before becoming the dominant holding midfielder that she is now. She has been a huge factor in Wisconsin’s success, immediately making an impact.

Even though she may be best known for her abilities with the ball, Cella’s work off the ball is just as important to team success. She has battled through injuries but refuses to let it affect her ability.

Community

During her time at Wisconsin, Cella has volunteered with Badgers Give Back. She has participated in visiting children’s hospital patients, senior centers, and working youth soccer clinics.

Competition

In 2019, Cella was named to the All-Big Ten first team for her efforts in helping Wisconsin win the Big Ten regular season title with an undefeated record. She started all 22 games for Wisconsin during their run to the NCAA Sweet 16.

She was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region first team.

For her career, Cella has tallied three goals and seven assists in 45 career starts.
