“Makenna Partain has a calming presence with patience and control, over both situations and herself. That is why she has become the softball player she is today. She is in control every time that she is in a situation and she never shies away from a challenge. Partain plays with integrity, always unselfish in her desire to see her teammates participate and excel. She is humble in the victories and has perspective on the losses. Partain’s competitiveness is contagious.”
- Head Coach Piper Ritter

Partain has volunteered with HopeKids every year that she has been on campus at Minnesota, including the Christmas with Santa events.

Partain opted to return for her fifth year after the canceled season in 2020. Since her freshman year, she has started in over 200 games for the Golden Gophers and is the program single-season runs record holder with 66.

She ranks third all-time in school history with 185 runs scored and fifth with a .375 career batting average.

Throughout her career at Minnesota, Partain has earned Big Ten All-Tournament Team honors once (2018) and All-Big Ten first team honors twice (2018 and 2019). She also earned All-Great Lakes Region second-team honors once (2019) and All-Great Lakes Region third team honors twice (2017 and 2018).
