Classroom

Max Edelmann earned a B.S. with a double major in labor and employment relations as well as criminal justice. His certificate of concentration is in law and the workplace. He graduated in May 2018 with an overall GPA of 3.71. He is working on a master’s degree in labor and employment relations. Edelmann is an inductee to Chi Alpha Sigma and the National College Athlete Honor Society, and he is an inductee to the Golden Key International Honor Society. Edelmann achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall semester. He is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and he was also named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2017. Edelmann has an internship position lined up for summer with IBM.

Character

Edelmann is the team captain for the 2019 season. He persevered by overcoming injury which caused him to miss the final 13 games of the 2016 season, returning to action to start every game since for Rutgers.

Community

Edelmann is an active participant in community service initiatives including Elijah’s Soup Kitchen, Embrace the Kids Foundation, Vs. Cancer, Rutgers Alumni Thank A Thon and Special Friends Day.

Competition

Edelmann has started 32 games between the pipes for the Scarlet Knights. He holds a 9.27 goals-against average and .516 save percentage. Boasting a 22-10 record, he has made 316 career saves, while collecting 51 ground balls and causing eight turnovers. Last season, Edelmann was a Big Ten preseason honoree and validated that title with a performance among the league’s best goalkeepers. He posted nine games with double-digit saves, finishing the season with a 9-6 record, .505 save percentage at 9.52 goals-against average. In 2017, he was named second-team All-Big Ten. He started all 14 games, notching a 10-4 record with 143 saves and holding an 8.91 goals-against average and .532 save percentage. Edelmann started the first three games of the 2016 season before missing the rest of the year with an injury.
