Character
Entering her second season as a team captain, Amodio is also a two-year member of BU’s Bloom Family Leadership Academy. Selected student-athletes are able to explore personal values and strengths to discover how to successfully lead and ultimately leave a positive impact on the community.
“Nicole Amodio is a gifted leader. She has the rare capability to lead by example, lead vocally and excel on and off the field. Her individual drive is special. However, she is the type of person who brings others along. She cares about the success of her teammates and this program. She prides herself on being in the trenches with the team - working hard, coming early, staying late and being the person everyone can turn to.”
- Head Coach Ashley Waters
Community
Amodio has been an extremely active volunteer while at Boston University. She is a member of the Terriers Together Mentorship Program within the athletic department, which pairs incoming student-athletes with current ones. It helps foster new relationships and ease incoming students’ transition into college life.
Amodio is a member of BU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as well, where she helps provide student-athletes with the opportunity to participate in community service activities. In addition, she is a member of BU’s Pre-Physician Assistant Club, which focuses on providing students with opportunities to gain knowledge and experience in the medical field.
Currently, Amodio serves as a clinical research assistant with the Massachusetts General Hospital Orthopedic Oncology Department. She performs data analysis on MGH surgical patients with spinal metastases.
Competition
Recognized for her success on the field, Amodio has been named to the All-Patriot League first team on two separate occasions. She’s been able to lead the Terriers to two regular season conference titles, two conference tournament titles, and two NCAA tournament appearances.
Amodio has remained committed to her craft and increased her batting average each year—with a personal-best .385 last season while earning NFCA All-Region third team honors. She finished the campaign second in the conference in both RBI and doubles.
BU has gone 87-32 (.731) during her tenure and recorded a program-recrod .900 winning percentage (36-4) last season. The Terriers earned a three-seed at an NCAA regional for only the second time in program history.
