Hammons is on track to earn her degree in education sciences and has volunteered at numerous elementary schools around Gainesville.
Character
Hammons is a very team-oriented player, always looking to assist in any way she can. She’s taken on a different role this season, but it has not changed her spirit. She is always cheering on her teammates and has an infectious personality that causes her to be a fan favorite. Hammons can always make anyone on the team smile during down moments and is fiercely loyal to her teammates.
Community
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hammons put in numerous hours with different organizations in the Gainesville community. She spent a majority of her time with the Gainesville, Fla. elementary school JJ Finley, where she helped the students with their homework and during their classes. Hammons also helped lead the pep rally at JJ Finley, where student-athletes led cheers and gave tips to the students on how to stay focused and do their best on upcoming state exams.
She has also spent time volunteering at the Sidney Lanier Center, another local school in Gainesville.
Competition
Over the course of her career, Hammons has earned two All-SEC Team nods and was named AVCA All-Southeast Region honorable mention during the 2019 season. The senior earned an All-America honorable mention nod from VolleyballMag.com for her performance in the 2018 season.
During the 2019 campaign, Hammons started all 32 matches for the Gators, posting double-figure kills in 11 of them. She averaged 0.35 aces per set, ranking fourth in the SEC. She currently sits at 108 career service aces, just 19 away from breaking into the Top-10 in Florida program history. Hammons also finished first on the team in aces (41), third in kills (273), fourth in digs (252), fourth in assists (30) and sixth in blocks (50) in 2019 - all while recording six double-doubles.
