Paschal Petrongolo is a two-time member of the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll (2013-14, 2014-15) and in 2014 earned Capital One Academic All-District 4 First Team honors.

Character

A team captain for the 2016 season, Petrongolo is a leader in the clubhouse and a stellar student in the classroom.

Community

Petrongolo has helped with Jacksonville State’s summer baseball camps as a counselor and has continued his community service efforts at JSU after his community service works in high school. When in his hometown of Blackwood, N.J., Petrongolo works with a community beautification projects in Camden, N.J. He also has made lunches for the homeless when home for the holidays. He is a member of the JSU SAAC and has visited local elementary kids to talk about the importance of reading.

Competition

Petrongolo was named a 2016 Preseason Second Team All-American by the NCBWA. JSU’s top hitter in the first three weeks of the season, Petrongolo was batting .417 as of March 9. He recorded four home runs in the first 10 games and is the team leader in RBIs with 18. He reached base 20 times in the first 10 games, including 10 walks, and had an on-base percentage of .531 and a slugging mark of .833. Petrongolo also was a 2016 preseason All OVC pick after earning 2015 preseason All-OVC honors and ending up with a first-team All-OVC selection at the end of the season. Petrongolo also received Preseason NCBWA third-team Al-America honors in 2015. His sophomore season he received second-team All-OVC and OVC All-Tournament Team honors as well. In 2013 he was on the OVC All-Freshman Team and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team.
