Classroom

Przemek Karnowski completed his undergraduate degree in May 2016, graduating with a bachelor of education in sport management and carrying a 3.19 cumulative GPA. Although English is Karnowski’s second language, it never stopped him from excelling in the classroom and being one of the team leaders in GPA since he first arrived at Gonzaga. He earned his way onto the dean’s list (3.5-3.69 GPA) in the Fall 2014 semester, as well as the WCC All-Academic Team in 2014-15, and WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll (Bronze Honors) for each year he has been at GU. Karnowski is currently in his first semester of graduate work in the MBA program and plans to finish his graduate work even after basketball is over.

Character

Karnowski has been an active member in the GU student-athlete community during his time at Gonzaga. In December 2014, Karnowski was voted by his peers in the Student-Athlete Advisor Committee (SAAC) as “Zag of the Month”—an award based on effort and excellence in academics, leadership, integrity, campus involvement, community service, dedication to team, and being a role model for current and future GU students and student-athletes. On the team, he has grown to be a true leader on and off of the court for the talented Gonzaga squad.

Community

Karnowski has been an active member in the Spokane community throughout his time at Gonzaga by working with the Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital Visit (Jan. 2013-15, Sept. 2015), Boys & Girls Club (March 2013), Union Gospel, Mission (Mar 2014), Leaf Raking Blitz (Nov. 2014), Catholic Charities Food Drive (Nov. 2014), Habitat For Humanity (Sept. 2014) and a VA Hospital Visit (Jan. 2015).

Competition

A first-team All-West Coast Conference selection in 2015-16, Karnowski is a force inside the paint for the Zags on both ends of the floor. Last season he became the 39th player in program history to top 1,000 points for his career. He also stands just nine rebounds shy of becoming the 14th player with at least 600 rebounds. The combination of 1,000 points and 600 rebounds is even more elite as only eight players in school history have accomplished that feat. He also earned WCC All-Tournament Team honors and was named WCC Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 5, 2016. This season, Karnowski was named Preseason All-West Coast Conference and to the Kareem Abdul Jabbar Center of the Year award watch list.
