Character

As a transfer student from UMKC, Hamilton had to sit out a season. He has since been elected by coaches and teammates to be the team captain. “I think that as a young man and as a student-athlete he has become a tremdenous leader and he represents Oakland the way we want it represented from his work in the classroom to his work in the community and to the way he plays the game of basketball,” coach Greg Kampe said. “He is a young man that exudes what Oakland University basketball and athletics is supposed to be about.”

Community

As a member of the Oakland team he has participated in such programs as the Grizz Kids Reading Club, Rochester Rotary Club, The Ebeling Elementary School Fun Day and Bruce Collins Elementary Field Day. He also interacted with special needs children as part of the Rochester Avon Recreational Authority during their summer camp program. Hamilton was also involved with reading programs at Detroit Technical Academy, McGregor Elementary and Rogers Elementary and he volunteered with OUCARES working with autistic individuals and helped the team with a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser.

Competition

As a junior, Hamilton earned first-team All-Summit League honors after ranking fourth in the league in scoring (17.6 points per game) and second in assists (5.3). His .839 free-throw percentage was third in The Summit League and in the top-75 nationally. He was also third in the league in three-pointers made per game (2.3). Entering his senior season, Hamilton is on the preseason All-Summit League first team and he was named a Mid-Major All-American.
