Classroom

As an exercise science major, Ryan James has a cumulative GPA of 3.790 entering the Fall 2015 semester. In his career, he has been named to both the Academic All-MAC and Academic All-Ohio teams and was named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete. In March 2015 James was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.

Character

James was named a team tri-captain based on a vote from his teammates.

Community

James has volunteered his time at numerous soccer camps and clinics.

Competition

James, a midfielder, has played in all 60 of BGSU’s matches in his first three seasons, making 50 starts. He has scored 20 career points on five goals and 10 assists. Last season, James was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Great Lakes Region Third Team, and he was also an All-MAC and an All-Ohio second-team selection. Last season, he started all 21 of BGSU’s matches and tied for second on the team and fifth in the league with six assists. BGSU won 14 matches last year, the program’s highest win total in 17 seasons, and the Falcons advanced to the championship match of the MAC Tournament for the first time since 2003.
