Character

Bieda is a two-time team captain for Rutgers. He will be the team’s lone captain as a senior. Bieda worked his way into the starting lineup as a freshman and has been a team leader ever since.

Community

Bieda has taken on a large volunteering role with the Embrace Kids Foundation. The team “adopted” a leukemia patient from a local pediatric hospital as an official member of the team. In addition to visiting him in the hospital, Bieda also has spent time with the boy, whose name is Kaden, when he has been able to join the team at practices and games. Bieda has also helped raise funds for the Vs. Cancer Foundation. That effort spearheaded the creation of the “Beads of Courage” program at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick.

Competition

A first-team All-Big Ten selection, Bieda is the leading returning scorer for Rutgers. Last season he led RU with 30 goals, 28 assists and 58 points. As a sophomore he was named All-BIG EAST, scoring 18 goals with 25 assists for 43 points. In his career Bieda has started 40 of 46 games, scoring 62 goals and 66 assists for 128 career points. He has collected 56 ground balls. This season Bieda is poised to enter Rutgers’ top-10 all-time scoring list. He has been a two-time Big Ten Preseason Player to Watch, and was just drafted by the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse.
