He led a group that placed third in the senior capstone project out of 73 groups. It was semester-long project in which he created a company and product idea called “X-Factor Lacrosse,” a revolutionary product in the lacrosse industry. Firman interned at SFP Capital (a venture capital firm) this summer where he worked closely with MMG Fusion (a Dental Marketing platform) conducting market analysis to determine the competitive nature of the industry and developed various marketing strategies to attract potential consumers

Character

Firman was named a team captain for the 2017 season and had been involved with numerous Student-Athlete Advisory Committee events. He was an orientation leader for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and led a group of 12 incoming student-athletes to ease their transition to Syracuse University. He was awarded the prestigious No. 11 for his senior season, which is traditionally worn by a defender. The previous players to wear No. 11 chose Firman to take over that legacy for the 2017 season and asked him to wear the number. Firman was also awarded the John McElroy Award for spirit and dedication chosen by coaches and former team captains.

Community

Firman coordinated with a Make-A-Wish Foundation Wish Granter and organized a day with a 12-year-old boy battling cancer to spend the day with the Syracuse Lacrosse program. He is an Upstate University Medical Center volunteer where he is currently stationed in the emergency room, rooming patients and attending to their needs. Firman volunteered more than 40 hours in the Francis House Hospice Care where he sat and visited with residents and their families to provide companionship and support in addition to running errands for families, assisted in meal preparations and delivery, housekeeping and other chores.

Competition

Firman has played in 46 career games at long stick midfield and defense where he has caused 32 turnovers, including the second-best mark on the Orange last season (14) trailing only three-time All-American Brandon Mullins. Also he has 66 career ground balls including a career-best 34 last season in 17 games.
