Simone Kolander is majoring in communications and holds a 3.383 GPA. She has been recognized as Academic All-Big Ten and named to the dean’s list. Last spring, she held an internship with KSTP working alongside with producers, directors and on-air talent to organize and produce shows each day.

Character

Kolander served as a co-captain during both her junior and senior seasons with the Gophers and has earned the trust of her teammates.

Community

Kolander has volunteered with several local organizations during her time at Minnesota including the following: University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Girls and Women in Sport Conference, HopeKids, Feed My Starving Children, Science Museum of Minnesota, Sanneh Foundation, local elementary schools, and more.

Competition

Kolander is a starting forward for Minnesota. She entered her senior year with preseason honors from the Big Ten and as part of the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. Through eight games played this year, Kolander has already scored seven goals and tallied three assists. Her accolades include: 2015 Big Ten Forward of the Year, No. 9 on TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s Conference Top 20, No. 47 on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Postseason Women’s National Top 100 list, being named to the NSCAA All-American Third Team and the All-Great Lake’s Region First Team, and she has been named B1G Player of the Week and espnW Player of the Week.
