Sis Bates

Short Stop

Bates graduated in less than four years and is now earning her master’s degree, earning Pac-12 All-Academic honors every eligible year.

Being a vocal leader on and off the field for the team, Bates is ready and willing to help anyone associated with the program. She makes sure to thank those around her for helping the team.

Bates stays late after games to sign autographs and meet fans every game, no matter where the team is. She has worked with various youth softball organizations during her time at Washington.

A two-time All-American and back-to-back Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Bates has the second-best fielding percentage of any UW middle infielder ever. She is the sixth Husky ever with 200+ hits in their first three seasons and is second among NCAA DI active players in runs and fourth in hits.

“Bates is an elite defender in every sense of the word. She helps make others around her better. She catches most everything hit in her direction. She plays with great joy and rolls like there is no other place in the world she’d rather be than between the lines making plays to help our team win.”
