Classroom

Tayrn Miller is an economics major who has a 3.91 GPA. She is a three-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection and was named a United Soccer Coaches First Team Scholar All-West Region honoree as a junior.

Character

From first-year Montana Head Coach Chris Citowicki: “From the moment I arrived in town (June), she’s been showing up and asking what she can do for the program and what she can do for everyone else. She cares so much about this university and the athletic department, and she represents both just perfectly. She is always wanting to do more and wanting to improve the others surrounding her. She’s one of the most selfless people I’ve ever come across. Her mindset is ‘What else can I do to help everyone else get better?’ It’s not often you run across people like that.”

Community

For Miller, the spirit of service was ingrained in her early in life when her mom took her and her sister on a regular basis to volunteer at a local food bank near their home in Greenacres, Wash. She’s brought that sense of service to Montana and has led the team each spring to help at the Missoula Food Bank. The team has volunteered every February at the Marshall Mountain Snowshoe Classic and Winter Carnival.

Competition

Miller played in a reserve role as a freshman and sophomore before enjoying a breakout season last fall as a junior. She was named the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-Big Sky selection after the Grizzlies led the league with a 0.72 goals-against average. Miller was also named United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-West Region.
