Classroom

Dugas carries a 3.35 GPA in General Health. He has been named to the SEC Honor Roll all three years as a member of the Crimson Tide, and has been on the Dean’s List once.

Character

After being drafted in the eighth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, Dugas returned to school to finish his degree and play his senior season. He sets a tremendous example of leadership for his teammates, both on and off the field. A hardworking player, Dugas is extremely dedicated to the game and encourages and motivates his teammates to work hard and improve.

Community

Dugas participates in a number of community-outreach projects with the team. He and his teammates won the Alabama Athletic Department Community Service Award in 2010 and 2011. The baseball team’s community service efforts included partnering with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation to adopt Grayson Anderson, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2008, Project Angle Tree, Field of Angels and the Miracle League of Tuscaloosa, while participating in the Halloween Extravaganza and the Sprayberry Christmas Party. They also helped with tornado relief efforts in the Tuscaloosa area, removing debris and salvaging property from homes of local community members hit by the tornado. They helped pass out food, water and individual care supplies to individuals and families that were displaced in the local Holt community following the April 27, 2011 Tuscaloosa Tornado.

Competition

As a junior, Dugas was honored as a second-team All-SEC player and was also selected to the SEC All-Defensive team. Additionally, he was an ABCA first-team All-South Region honoree and a national ABCA Gold Glove outfielder. In his three seasons at Alabama, primarily as the team’s leadoff hitter, Dugas has helped the team advance to the NCAA Tournament three times, including a Super Regional appearance in 2010. The Crimson Tide have posted a 114-54 (.678) record in his three years, and Dugas has a career batting average of .365 with a career on-base percentage of .455. He enters his senior season ranked in the top-10 at Alabama in seven offensive categories, including: batting average (seventh), runs (sixth), hits (eighth), doubles (sixth), triples (third), walks (third) and sacrifice bunts (seventh). He is on pace to move into the career top-10 lists in games played, games started, at-bats, total bases and stolen bases and can set the school records in at-bats, runs, hits, doubles and triples. As a sophomore, he garnered first-team All-America honors from Baseball America and first-team All-SEC honors after finishing second in the SEC with a .395 batting average and leading the conference with a .525 on-base percentage. He was named to the SEC all-freshman team in 2009, was a first team All-SEC selection in 2010.
