Taylor Van Zee

Classroom

Taylor Van Zee has a 3.75 GPA at Washington and has been named to the dean’s list eight times and the annual dean’s list in the 2015 and 2016 seasons. She was also named to the Pac-12’s All-Academic Second Team in 2016 and the First Team in 2017. She served as an intern with the Child Hearing Center working in experimental teaching methods.

Character

Van Zee was honored with the Huskies’ Core Value Award for Confidence in 2016 and for Accountability in 2017.

Community

Van Zee has long donated her time working with young softball players. She was part of a 4C mentoring program and volunteered with a speech education unit.

Competition

Van Zee has been on the NFCA All-Pacific Region Team twice, making the third team in 2015 and the second team in 2017. She was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and was an NFCA Freshman of the Year finalist in 2015. In 2016, she was on the All-Pac-12 Third Team and led the conference in doubles. She bested that total with 17 last season, giving her 45 in her career, good for seventh in Husky history. As of nomination time, she has a career .364/.433/.571 line, hitting over .355 with an OBP over .400 every season of her career. She has hit 20 home runs in her career and driven in 134 runs, including a career-high seven homers and 49 RBI last season. She also struck out just six times in 2017 despite a career-high 207 at-bats. In the field, she has maintained a fielding percentage over .960 every season while playing second, short and third base.
