Community

M’Barek has shown a willingness to get involved with the community during his time at Cleveland State. M’Barek, along with his teammates, have volunteered at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank on multiple occasions, where they helped prepare and package bags and meals for homeless and other disadvantaged individuals.

He has volunteered at a Special Olympics Day hosted at Cleveland State, where Viking student-athletes work different stations while playing games and interacting with dozens of Special Olympians.

M’Barek has also donated his time during the holiday season, taking part in an Adopt-A-Family drive. He went shopping for clothes, toys, and other gifts with fellow student-athletes before wrapping the presents and giving them to children in need.

Competition

Since arriving at Cleveland State, M’Barek has been a fixture in the lineup and has since developed into one of the top defenders in the Horizon League.

In 2019, he was tabbed both All-Horizon League first team and All-Ohio first team. M’Barek started all but one match that season, playing over 1,200 minutes, as he anchored the top defensive unit in the league—Cleveland State allowed a league-low 17 goals in 15 matches during the campaign.

He also earned all-league accolades after a sophomore season in which he was the only Viking to start every match and proceeded to lead the team with over 1,300 minutes played.

In 2017, M’Barek was named to the league’s All-Freshman Team after helping Cleveland State allow only 10 goals from the run of play in their final 16 matches that season.

He has started all 44 of the matches he has appeared in during his time at Cleveland State.
