Character
From Head Coach Steve Hawkins: “Whatever it is that you see on the court that makes people like Thomas, it is double that off the court. He is a high-quality kid and is just a tremendous person and has really grown into a leadership role the past few seasons. Inside and out, he is a pleasure to be around, and Thomas is a kid that, forgetting that he is a player, is a kid that I am truly going to miss being around every day. He is just that kind of person.”
Community
This Halloween, Wilder was involved within the Kalamazoo community, taking part in a community event in which he ran games with children and others in the community while also passing out candy. The community event gave people the opportunity to meet Thomas and allowed him to interact with the fans that come and support him every night on the court.
Competition
This season Wilder was voted preseason All-MAC West after testing the NBA waters before electing to return for his senior season. Entering 2017-18, he ranked 10th at WMU in career scoring with 1,437 points, fifth in career FTs made (416), seventh in FT attempts (522) and 11th in career assists (275).
Last season, he was named second-team All-District (NABC) and first-team All-Mid-American Conference—the Broncos’ first first-team selection since 2014. He also earned second-team All-MAC as a sophomore and a spot on the Freshman All-MAC Team as a freshman.
