Classroom

Elko has been outstanding in the classroom, earning selections to the SEC Academic Honor Roll all three years at Ole Miss. He also earned a nomination for Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

He has made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every semester, including making the Spring 2019 Dean’s Honor Roll and the Chancellor’s Honor Roll three times.

Elko was also a December 2019 Student-Athlete of the Month and has maintained a GPA above 3.85.

Character

Elko has twice been voted team captain by his teammates.

He also lent his time to his fellow student-athletes through his service on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Community

Elko was selected to the 2020 SEC Community Service Team. He participated in Adopt-A-Basket to provide food for the Oxford community during Thanksgiving. Elko ?also supported the Ole Miss Special Olympics team during the Unified Egg Bowl.

He read to local elementary school students during Reading with the Rebels and instructed children during the Bats and Balls Camp with the Junior Auxiliary of Oxford.

Elko also took part in the Night to Shine, celebrating 125 guests with special needs during an unforgettable prom night experience.

Competition

Prior to the 2021 season, Elko was named a preseason All-American and preseason All-SEC selection.

His accolades extend to summer ball, where he earned the 2020 Northwoods League Rawlings Big Stick Award as a first baseman. Elko was also a Northwoods League All-Star.

During the shortened 2020 season, he hit .354 with four doubles, one triple, and three home runs.
