Classroom

Kelley is on pace to graduate in May with a 3.0 GPA in marketing and has made the Athletic Director’s honor roll five times as well as one appearance on the Dean’s List. His career goal is to work in sales or go into coaching.

Character

Kelley goes about his business seriously and is a low-maintenance guy who is a great leader for the young guys. He has an outstanding work ethic and takes care of business in the classroom, in workouts and in games. Kelley didn’t come to college with a lot of baseball experience, so he has had to learn quickly while competing at the Division I level. He redshirted his first year, made some adjustments mechanically and has continued to get better every year.

Community

Kelley helped with the Koyie Hill’s Big Wish/Make a Wish Foundation fundraiser and works the Shocker Baseball Camps to learn to teach children baseball skills and to watch them improve. He has read to kids in the Missouri Valley Conference’s Just Read program, helped build houses in Greensburg, Kan., that were destroyed by a tornado and over the holidays he rang bells for the Salvation Army.

Competition

Kelley enters his senior season as an All-MVC starting pitcher and second-team Collegiate Baseball All-American. In 2010, he was named first-team All-MVC after going 11-2 with a 3.94 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 96 innings pitched. In 2009, he went 5-4 and was named second-team all-conference after posting a 2.86 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 94.1 innings pitched.
