Classroom

Tommy Miller entered his final collegiate semester maintaining a strong 3.34 cumulative grade-point average and is on track to graduate in May with a degree in accounting. Miller was named to Siena College’s Dean’s List last fall after achieving a 3.52 semester GPA. Miller has served both as a peer tutor and a member of Siena Athletics’ student-athlete mentoring program.

Character

Siena Baseball Head Coach Tony Rossi had the following to say about Miller’s character and leadership qualities: “Tommy Miller is an outstanding student, who is one of many student-athletes who will go out of their way to help others. He has, over the past four years, on his own time, been a peer tutor in math for his teammates as well as others on campus. He has been a diamond in the rough for our team with the amount of time he has committed to helping his teammates. He has also been involved with projects involving the Ronald McDonald House and the T.O.P.P.S. soccer program for autistic children for four years. He has been the baseball representative for the past two years and an active member of our Student Athlete Mentoring Program. While Tommy is an outstanding athlete, being named to our conference first team as a pitcher last year and being ranked in the nation in complete games, he is very humble. He is always up, never down, and we believe this rubs off on his teammates. Very positive no matter the situation. His teammates look up to and follow him.”

Community

Miller has been an active, engaged and self-motivated participant in numerous Siena Athletics “Saints in the Community” initiatives throughout his four years. He, along with his teammates, have made several visits annually to cook dinner and spend time with residents at the local Ronald McDonald House and been a part of Latham Circle TOPPS, which helps children with disabilities learn how to play soccer.

Competition

Miller was named both second-team All-MAAC and an ECAC Second Team All-Star after leading the nation last spring with six complete games. A two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week, he tied for the conference lead with a pair of shutouts while also ranking second in wins (9), tying for fifth in strikeouts (84) and ranking sixth in ERA (3.70). Including the MAAC Tournament, Miller recorded wins in eight of his nine starts vs. conference foes this spring (including all six of his complete games), while also helping Siena lead the league with a 3.34 ERA during conference play. In MAAC-only games, he tied for the conference lead in both strikeouts (54) and shutouts (two), while ranking seventh in ERA (2.64).
