Classroom

Tyler Selesky has compiled a 3.33 cumulative GPA as a marketing major during his four years at FGCU and is a three-time member of the dean’s list for turning in a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the respective semesters (Fall 2012, Spring 2015, Fall 2015). Additionally, he made the FGCU Athletic’s Director Honor Roll on five occasions.

Character

Selesky serves as a senior leader on the 2016 FGCU baseball team and is looked upon by his teammates and coaching staff as such. As a kid who grew up in the Fort Myers area, his character paired with his athletic ability has made him a role model to many young student-athletes. Coach Tollett deems him as one of the hardest workers on the team both on and off the playing field and says he is one of the more enjoyable players he has coached. Selesky has aspirations of pursuing a career in the MLB, if not as a player, then as a member of the front office.

Community

Selesky has participated in more than 50 hours of community service during the grueling schedule that is college baseball. He volunteered at FGCU sanctioned events such as the Night at the Nest fundraiser and participated in a local community awareness event to talk to kids about balancing athletics and academics. He also has taken part in programs such as Read Across America and helped put on a high school baseball showcase in the area. A local product from Estero, Fla., Selesky travels to middle school and high schools in the area to participate in physical activities with the kids.

Competition

Selesky was named to the 2015 A-Sun All-Conference Second Team after turning in career-high offensive numbers. He ranked second on the team with 46 runs scored and 70 hits while ranking third with a .330 batting average and 37 RBI. He was named the A-Sun Player of the Week after going 12-for-20 with six doubles, one triple, eight runs and 10 RBI in a four-game series vs. UMass. In game two of the series, Selesky went 5-for-6 with three doubles, four runs and three RBI, matching a single-game program record for hits and doubles. In his career at FGCU through March 9, Selesky had turned in a .307 batting average with a .425 on-base percentage and appeared in 140 games with 117 starts. In 2015, he was one of two FGCU players to start all 57 games.
