Victoria Tran

Classroom

Tran has had an extremely decorated academic career, carrying a 3.97 cumulative GPA as an honors robotics and control engineering major. She is the reigning Patriot League Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Tran is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American (2019 and 2020-21), earning first team honors last year. She was the only non-senior or graduate student to earn that recognition. In addition, Tran was named to the 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches Women’s Scholar All-America second team.

Through six semesters at the U.S. Naval Academy, Tran has been named to the Supt’s List five times.It recognizes the top USNA students in then areas of academics, military, and physical readiness.

Currently, Tran ranks seventh in the Naval Academy’s Overall Order of Merit, as well as ninth in the Military Order of Merit for the Class of 2022.

Character

Tran is described by her coach and teammates as a humble, thoughtful, and extremely responsible member of the program, both on and off the field.

She is a member of Navy’s Senior Leadership Council and takes pride in helping her teammates through everything that comes with being a Midshipmen.

Though a quiet leader, Tran illustrates to her teammates the determination, discipline, and work ethic needed to succeed on a daily basis.

Community

Tran, along with her teammates, supports GiGi’s Playhouse. It is a Down Syndrome Achievement Center in Annapolis, where they volunteer at a variety of events, including the annual Holiday Party.

The Midshipmen have also been involved with the Athletes for Hope and Honor Flight programs. They travel to local airports, greeting military veterans as they arrive into Washington, D.C.

Additionally, Tran has individually volunteered with the Mids for Kids program. She helps tutor, instruct, and befriend local children at their elementary or middle schools throughout the year. Tran has also participated in the Boy Scout Troop 35’s 40-mile hike, where she accompanied the scouts over the length.

Competition

Tran has had an extremely decorated career on the field for the Mids. She was named the 2020-21 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year for her success last season. Tran is also a three-time All-Patriot League selection, earning first team honors once and second team honors twice.

Her accolades are not limited to the Patriot League, however, as she has achieved regional acclaim as well. She was named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-North Region third team and the 2020-21 All-North first team.

Throughout her three-plus seasons, Tran has played in 58 games and registered 17 points on seven goals and three assists. She rarely leaves the field from her center midfield position, accumulating 4,455 minutes played, including more than 980 in her first three seasons. In her tenure as a Midshipman, the team has gone 33-15-10 and won consecutive Patriot League Championships in 2019 and 2020-21.
