Rejoice Spivey

Virginia Union University


Rejoice Spivey is a biology major and is on course to graduate in May 2019. She has been a solid student-athlete in the classroom and on the basketball court while maintaining a 3.56 career GPA. Spivey has earned dean’s list honors in each of his semesters at Virginia Union, and she was recognized during the 2017-18 Student-Athletes’ Academic Recognition Night.


Spivey has grown into the consummate leader for the women’s basketball program. She has been the point guard for the past three years and was selected by her peers and coaches as team captain for the past two seasons. She is an exceptional leader both on and off the court and is extremely unselfish, putting her team and teammates above herself. She is one of the most respected players on the team and within the CIAA Conference.


Spivey is a giver who has participated in several community service projects including reading to elementary school children, assisting with the Trinity Church Thanksgiving Turkey Initiative and assisting with YMCA summer activities.


Spivey is currently eighth in the nation in assists per game. She is also currently seventh in the nation in total assists and second in minutes played. In 2017-18, she finished second in the nation in assists and assists per game.
