Butler and Griffin Announced as 2010 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award Winners

West Virginia forward Da’Sean Butler and Nebraska forward Kelsey Griffin have been selected as the 2010 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winners for men’s and women’s basketball. An All-Big East performer, Butler led the Mountaineers to the NCAA Final Four his senior year and participated in various public service projects for the university, the conference and the state of West Virginia during his four-year career. Griffin, the Big 12’s player of the year and first-team all-American, led the Huskers to a 32-2 season and was a member of the conference’s Good Works team in addition to being the women’s basketball representative on the university’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

The 2009-10 academic season was a milestone year for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. There were record numbers of nominees and fan voting for several sports, which produced 90 finalists who excelled in all four categories of the award criteria – community, classroom, character and competition.
